Financial Analyst II – Budget & Forecast Reporting (SAP / Excel Advanced)
Position Summary:
Supports business unit financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting within a regulated utility environment. This role relies heavily on advanced use of
SAP ECC
and
Microsoft Excel
to produce accurate forecasts, analyze variances, and support management and regulatory reporting.
Key Job Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and consolidate detailed operating and capital budgets and forecasts using SAP ECC and Excel to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial cycles.
Prepare and analyze financial performance reports, including actuals vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods; identify drivers, trends, and risks impacting business results.
Serve as a power user of SAP ECC, extracting, validating, reconciling, and maintaining financial data across multiple cost objects, business units, and reporting hierarchies.
Apply advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, large data sets) to support financial modeling, variance analysis, and management reporting.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory accounting requirements, supporting audit requests and acting as a liaison between business units, accounting, and external auditors.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to business partners by translating complex financial data into clear, actionable conclusions.
Support financial systems and reporting processes, including data validation, system maintenance activities, and continuous improvement of forecasting and reporting workflows.
Manage work independently while collaborating with finance, accounting, and business teams to meet deadlines and deliver accurate, high-quality financial outputs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
Progressive experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Advanced proficiency in SAP ECC
for financial reporting, budgeting, and data reconciliation.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
required.
Strong understanding of GAAP; regulatory accounting experience preferred.
Experience in a large, complex, or regulated environment (utility experience preferred).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
