Akkodis is seeking New Product Engineer -Mechanical for a Direct Hire position with a client located in Wilmington MA (100% Onsite).
Salary range:

SUMMARY
As an NPI Project Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding advanced products through the full New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle. This role requires close cross functional collaboration to ensure products transition efficiently from design through production readiness and release. Early engagement with design teams to influence Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is essential, along with evaluating and justifying production readiness for manufacturing release.
Job Description
Support NPI programs for products designed and manufactured on highly automated, in house production lines utilizing advanced technologies such as:
Multilayer, high density PCB designs
Leading edge SMT assembly
Advanced magnetic and packaging assemblies
Thermal transfer molding
State of the art PCB fabrication, processing, and plating
Laser marking, singulation, and automated test systems
Work closely with Mechanical Engineering and PCB Layout teams, participating early in design reviews to provide manufacturability feedback, ensure compliance with design rules, and incorporate the latest technology advancements.
Education / Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, or Manufacturing Engineering
Master’s degree preferred
3–5 years of experience in electronics packaging and/or manufacturing environments
Strong foundational knowledge of high volume, high density SMT manufacturing processes, including:
Solder stencil printing
Pick and place operations
SPI, AOI, reflow, and PCB cleaning
Familiarity with PCB review tools such as Altium and GC?CAM Edit for providing manufacturability feedback
On the job training available for qualified candidates
Basic experience using mechanical or design review software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design evaluation and minor modifications
Ability to create and analyze tolerance stackups at both assembly and component levels
Solid understanding of DOE, GD&T, and SPC methodologies
Basic experience with statistical software such as Minitab; Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus
Strong appreciation for materials interactions and material selection to optimize product performance and reliability
Hands on engineering experience with production equipment and/or product development
Excellent written communication, organization, and project management skills
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of automotive quality systems and requirements such as IATF 16949, PPAP, BIQ, and FTQ
Training available through internal automotive quality teams
Experience with advanced packaging and processing strategies for System in Package (SiP) devices, including:
High layer count laminate and ceramic substrates
Ferrites, flip chip, BGA packages
Lead free soldering, MSL considerations
Transfer molding and encapsulation processes
