Job Title: Ruby on Rails Developer
Duration: 8 Months - C2H
Rate: $50-55/hr on Amtex W2
Location: Onsite in San Jose, CA (3 days onsite and 2 days remote)
Role Overview
This position focuses on designing, developing, and delivering software solutions that require deep technical expertise and research. The ideal candidate will have an advanced background in computer science or software engineering, along with strong knowledge of modern development methodologies.
Team & Project Overview
Story Behind the Need:
This role supports a team responsible for software development and delivery, with a dual focus:
60% hands‑on coding and solution delivery
40% supporting Shopify‑related engineering requests within a shared support model
Reason for Opening:
To assist with the migration of an existing application and support new and evolving Shopify engineering needs.
Contract Details
Potential for extension
Conversion to full‑time, depending on business needs and available headcount at the end of the contract
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain software systems across multiple modules and subsystems
Perform software and system testing, including bug verification, release testing, and beta support
Participate in design discussions to evaluate system performance and hardware/software integration
Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing and post‑release
Analyze requirements and assess feasibility within time and budget constraints
Prepare and maintain technical documentation for development and release processes
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders on application usage and maintenance
Coordinate software deployment and installation as needed
Act as a technical lead or project architect when required
