Job Announcement Editor, Programs & Formats – Washington, D.C.
MBN (Middle East Broadcasting Network) is seeking an Editor, Programs & Formats to lead our signature Washington-based programs, explainers, and recurring editorial formats. This role transforms reporting from the DC Bureau and MENA teams into polished, compelling multiplatform journalism that helps Arab audiences understand U.S. policy, power, and decision‑making.
What You’ll Do
Occasional on-site work at our headquarters is required.
Lead editorial direction, tone, and structure of flagship programs and recurring formats
Transform raw reporting into polished, audience-friendly content across video, digital, and newsletters
Collaborate with correspondents and reporters to refine angles, scripts, and story structures
Develop and launch new recurring formats, segments, and editorial franchises
Experiment with structure, pacing, visuals, and storytelling techniques to enhance engagement
Partner with Digital and Innovation teams to design workflows and platform-native products
Coordinate production and editorial workflows to ensure timely delivery
Maintain accuracy, fairness, and clarity across Arabic and English versions of content
Handle sensitive geopolitical topics with nuance and balance
Contribute to long-form, investigative, and premium storytelling projects
Work with Audience Growth teams on packaging, headlines, and distribution strategies
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, Media, Political Science, or related field
5–8 years of experience in editing, producing, or format development within a newsroom
Strong editorial judgment and understanding of U.S. policy, politics, and Washington institutions
Proven ability to translate complex reporting into clear, structured, and engaging storytelling
Experience developing or managing recurring editorial or digital formats
Excellent writing, editing, and script development skills
Fluency in English and Arabic
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong collaboration and cross‑functional communication skills
Preferred:
Experience in digital-first or multiplatform newsrooms
Familiarity with MENA politics, audiences, and regional context
Experience with video production or visual storytelling formats
Knowledge of analytics or audience engagement strategies
Salary & Benefits
$85,000 – $115,000 per year (Depending on Experience)
