Advantage Tech is looking for a Network Engineer for our Kansas City client.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure across on‑premises, data center, and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with firewall, switching, and wireless technologies, along with deep knowledge of fundamental networking protocols and enterprise troubleshooting practices.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
Design, deploy, and support LAN, WAN, WLAN, data center, and cloud network architectures.
Configure and maintain routing and switching environments for campus and data center networks.
Create and maintain network diagrams, standards, and technical documentation.
Operations & Troubleshooting
Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity.
Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide Tier 2/3 escalation support.
Perform root cause analysis and implement proactive and long‑term fixes.
Security & Compliance
Configure and manage firewall policies, VPNs, and security profiles.
Work with security teams on vulnerability remediation and compliance requirements.
Implement network segmentation and best‑practice security architectures.
Cloud & Automation
Support cloud networking environments (OCI, AWS, Azure), including routing, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity.
Automate network tasks using scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
Support SD‑WAN and modern network architectures.
Must Have Experience
Palo Alto Firewalls (policy configuration, security profiles, VPNs, Panorama, Strata).
Cisco Nexus Switches (data center switching, vPC, fabric architectures).
Cisco Catalyst Switches (enterprise LAN switching and routing).
Meraki Wireless (design, deployment, monitoring, dashboard management).
Required Technical Skills
Solid experience with core networking protocols, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, DNS, and DHCP.
Strong understanding of VLANs, routing design, hybrid‑cloud, and high‑availability concepts.
Experience troubleshooting Layer 2–7 network issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud networking experience (OCI, AWS or Azure).
SD‑WAN experience.
Scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, PCNSE, or equivalent.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science and 3 years’ experience as network engineer, or a combination of education and 7+ years’ experience in a network engineer role.
