Job Overview & Essential Functions
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Network Engineer. This position will provide experienced level implementation and support for the enterprise network infrastructure. The role is fully in office, 5 days a week, in Leawood, KS.
Coordinate the security and management functions associated with Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN).
Coordinate the setup and configurations of network devices.
Recommend strategies for defining, deploying, and maintaining the company network infrastructure, connectivity, and hardware.
Provide Level‑2 support of existing network infrastructure daily operations, acting as primary or escalation contact as appropriate.
Provide support for company phone systems on supported models; perform remote programming, system setup and optimization, and ensure phone system issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure best practices, standards and guidelines are applied in designing and implementing solutions, establishing priorities, and resolving issues.
Support and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
Work within established configuration and change‑management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
Recommend and maintain Service Level Agreements for network infrastructure.
Coordinate backup systems and processes to preserve vital services and configuration data.
Recommend software licensing, subscriptions, and maintenance relating to network infrastructure.
Recommend new technologies and trends to present recommendations to the management team related to the network infrastructure.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Proficient with Cisco network hardware and operating system(s). Cisco CCNA preferred.
Prefer BS or BA in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or related field.
Solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11).
Ability to manage large and complex projects and issues.
Advanced skills in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be a collaborative team player with a positive and productive attitude towards the responsibilities of the job.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 30%.
Must be willing to participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours support.
