SUMMARY

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of speech and language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA assists with screenings, treatment activities, documentation, and communication to support students' academic and social-emotional success.

WHAT YOU'LL SUPPORT

* Champion AJUSD's Kids First mission through every decision and interaction.

* Assist the supervising SLP with speech and language screenings.

* Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP, using approved instructional and therapeutic techniques.

* Prepare materials and activities to support therapy sessions.

* Document student performance and progress toward goals as directed by the SLP.

* Maintain accurate service logs, data sheets, and required documentation.

* Support hearing screenings and follow-up procedures as assigned.

* Communicate regularly with the supervising SLP regarding student needs, progress, and concerns.

* Assist in maintaining equipment, materials, and therapy spaces.

* Provide information to staff regarding communication strategies and student needs, as directed by the SLP.

* Travel between school sites as needed to support student caseloads.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the District or supervising SLP.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Completion of an approved Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders (or related field)

* Valid Arizona SLPA License (or eligibility for licensure)

* Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to read and interpret professional materials, follow treatment plans, document student progress, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.

Candidates must be able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position may require sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and traveling between school sites. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, as well as humidity or dusty conditions. Noise levels are typically moderate.
