Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Cisco ISE Network Engineer to work on innovative network design and operation supporting our Social Security Administration customer. The selected individual will provide engineering expertise for complex multi‑service networking, engineering, and supporting network design, deployment, and operations for a large government customer located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Key duties include:
Analyze current network configurations and determine implementation requirements.
Configure routing protocols, complex switch networks, and Fabric Path configurations.
Prepare network equipment for deployment by loading appropriate software and configuration settings according to pre‑engineered design templates.
Assemble required equipment, cables, adapters, etc., and arrange delivery to site for installation.
Upgrade configuration of existing network equipment to support new features and functions.
Work with field installation contractors on‑site, providing details to complete installations.
Review customer’s network and practices for opportunities to enhance functionality, performance and reliability.
Assist in evaluation of potential network products or technical solutions.
Test LAN/WAN and WLAN equipment software (e.g., IOS, NXOS).
Contribute to development of network documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications, and operating procedures.
Monitor for opportunities to enhance network/system performance or reliability.
Monitor for opportunities to improve customer service delivery practices.
Perform ongoing management of network installation and upgrade projects and maintain deployment schedules.
Provide guidance to team members and status metrics to Government customer and Peraton management.
Provide third‑level support and troubleshooting of network problems; periodically provide after‑hours and weekend support.
Maintain and extend expertise in network and computer hardware and software technology.
Understand network requirements of remote customer offices, campus buildings, and data centers; define equipment, cables, adapters and configurations needed to upgrade buildings and sites to established standards.
Travel: 25% to 50% to Baltimore, MD; on‑site 2‑3 times per week as needed.
Basic Qualifications
AS/AA with 10 years of experience; BS/BA with 8 years; MS/MA with 6 years; 3 years with PhD; or 12 years related experience with high school diploma in lieu of degree.
3 years of experience administering and using Cisco ISE platform.
3 years of system administration with VMware vCenter, Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
3 years of experience with Cisco router and switch configuration commands and configuring network authentication using TACACS and RADIUS protocols.
3 years of experience configuring management tools using SNMP protocol for network devices.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory user account administration.
3 years of experience with Python scripting language.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
Located within commuting distance to Baltimore, MD office.
U.S. Citizen.
25% to 50% travel to Baltimore, MD.
Preferred Qualifications
Passed Cisco Certified Internetworking Professional – Enterprise Core exam within last two years.
4 years of experience writing Python scripting language and Regular Expressions.
5 years of experience implementing Cisco ISE in large multi‑data‑center and enterprise environment.
5 years of experience deploying Cisco Virtual Private Network products such as Cisco ASA and Cisco Wireless LAN in multi‑office and large campus environment.
5 years of experience working with physical media and equipment for wired and wireless networking.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical topics to management and non‑technical audiences and interface with customer daily.
Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. Salary determined by scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and location.
