Job Title: Level 2 Network Engineer
Location: Onsite / Hybrid (80% onsite, 20% remote)
Environment: Hospital / Healthcare Setting
Position Overview
We are seeking a Level 2 Network Engineer to support a fast‑paced healthcare environment with a strong focus on network upgrades, system hardening, operational support, and infrastructure reliability. This role will be heavily involved in maintaining and improving enterprise network systems across a hospital setting, with responsibilities spanning switching, wireless, OS upgrades, configuration hardening, documentation, and change management.
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Cisco Catalyst, Cisco IOS, Cisco Nexus, and Cisco ACI, along with a solid understanding of enterprise networking best practices. This person should also be comfortable working directly with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and third‑party vendors to plan and execute network changes with minimal disruption to hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform network upgrades, refreshes, and lifecycle projects in a hospital / healthcare environment
Execute OS and firmware upgrades across network infrastructure
Support and maintain Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco Nexus, and Cisco IOS-based environments
Assist with administration and support of Cisco ACI environments
Implement and maintain secure, hardened network configurations in accordance with internal standards and best practices
Participate in wireless networking support and troubleshooting
Develop, document, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and run books
Support change management processes, including planning, review, implementation, and validation of network changes
Coordinate project schedules and maintenance windows with stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams
Participate in change reviews, implementation planning, and post‑change validation
Troubleshoot and resolve network performance, connectivity, and configuration issues
Assist in identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement
Utilize or learn Python / scripting to improve efficiency and support repeatable operational tasks
Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration
Strong hands‑on experience with:
Cisco Catalyst switches
Cisco IOS
Cisco Nexus
Experience performing network OS / firmware upgrades
Working knowledge of Cisco ACI
Experience with network hardening and secure configuration practices
Exposure to or experience with wireless networking
Familiarity with change management processes in an enterprise environment
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and run books
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a hospital / healthcare environment with high attention to uptime, change control, and communication
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a healthcare or hospital environment
Basic scripting skills or the ability / willingness to learn Python
Experience supporting network modernization, refresh, or upgrade initiatives
Familiarity with enterprise network security standards and operational best practices
Experience working with vendors and cross‑functional infrastructure teams
Work Environment
80% onsite / 20% remote
Work will be performed primarily in a hospital / healthcare setting
This role may require flexibility around maintenance windows, upgrade schedules, and stakeholder coordination
