You will orchestrate global testing efforts across CTCT, Caterpillar, and Trimble, transforming complex data into insights that define our product roadmap and maintain our edge as a global industry leader.

About Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT)

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning, control, and automation products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GNSS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in applications where the operator benefits from accurate horizontal and vertical guidance. What Makes This Role Great: In this high-impact individual contributor role, you serve as the definitive Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the global competitive landscape. You are not merely observing the market; you are operationalizing a brand-new evaluation framework and transforming it into standard practice. By acting as the central liaison between CTCT, Caterpillar, and Trimble, you will influence the strategic direction of our technology, identify critical product gaps, and define the customer value drivers that shape the future of heavy civil construction.

Key Exciting Responsibilities

Operationalize Excellence: Move our competitive evaluation framework from high-level concept to standardized, world-class testing protocols.

Orchestrate Global Testing: Coordinate specialized internal teams—from hardware to user experience—for deep-dive competitive evaluations.

Validate Performance: Plan and execute hands-on technical assessments of CTCT and competitive systems to prove real-world performance claims.

Drive Strategic Insight: Distill complex technical findings into clear, persuasive narratives that guide executive leadership on where to focus development efforts.

Own the Intelligence: Lead monthly cross-functional calls and govern the global competitive database to ensure our intelligence is accurate and actionable.

Essential Skills & Experience

Technical Mastery: You can confidently operate and troubleshoot machine control systems, GNSS hardware, and construction software.

Collaborative Coordinator: You have a proven ability to align decentralized teams and drive reporting consistency without needing direct authority.

Data Integrity Champion: You possess an impeccable eye for detail, ensuring every data point in our competitive database is precise.

Self-Authored Success: You are a highly motivated professional who thrives when working autonomously and managing multiple complex timelines.

Prior experience in heavy civil construction or the machine control industry.

Deep domain expertise in 2D/3D grade control and onsite connectivity.

Creative problem-solving skills, such as developing workarounds to test competitive systems on non-native machines.

Logistics

Compensation

Hiring Range: $136,400.00 – $187,500.00
