Your Impact
As a Network Engineer, you will have a direct and immediate impact on the stability, security, and scalability of Axon's global network infrastructure. You will help own key network domains—including firewalls, routing, SD‑WAN, wireless, and site connectivity—and support how Axon designs and operates networks across corporate offices, manufacturing environments, data centers, and cloud infrastructure.
In this role, you will go beyond day‑to‑day operations to drive improvements, reduce risk, and modernize network services in partnership with the Network Architect and broader Infrastructure teams. Your work will directly support Axon's ability to scale its business and maintain high availability for critical systems.
Responsibilities
Help own Axon's firewall and routing environments, driving stability, performance, and security improvements.
Design, implement, and operate Palo Alto firewall infrastructure, including HA pairs, policy design, segmentation, VPNs, and routing.
Support and evolve SD‑WAN and edge routing environments, including Palo Alto ION and Cisco Viptela.
Engineer and support campus and data center routing and switching using Cisco and Aruba platforms.
Design, deploy, and optimize Aruba wireless networks, including performance tuning and reliability improvements.
Support office and operational environments, balancing uptime, security, and operational simplicity.
Engineer and support hybrid networking across on‑premises, data center, and cloud environments, including Azure and AWS.
Lead and execute network modernization initiatives, remediation efforts, and technical debt reduction.
Serve as a senior escalation point for complex network incidents and outages.
Partner closely with the Network Architect or Principal Engineer on architecture direction, standards, best practices, and tooling or automation strategy.
Drive documentation, operational standards, and maturity across the network environment.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid‑level and junior engineers through design reviews and day‑to‑day collaboration.
Qualifications
8+ years of hands‑on network engineering experience in enterprise environments.
Deep experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including policy design, routing, HA, and VPNs.
Strong experience with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and static routing.
Strong experience with Cisco and Aruba switching platforms.
Experience with Meraki & Aruba wireless platforms and enterprise wireless design or support.
Experience with SD‑WAN technologies, including Palo Alto ION and/or Cisco Viptela.
Experience supporting corporate, operational, or mixed‑use network environments.
Experience operating in hybrid environments spanning on‑premises and cloud networking.
Strong troubleshooting skills across Layers 2 through 7.
Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver results with limited oversight.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, and cross‑functional partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience contributing to network standardization, lifecycle improvements, or modernization programs.
Familiarity with automation, network monitoring, and operational tooling.
Exposure to cloud networking in Azure and/or AWS.
Basic experience with edge troubleshooting and adjacent infrastructure domains.
Certifications such as PCNSE, CCNP, Aruba, or other relevant networking certifications are a plus.
