Network Engineer Job at TEKsystems in New Hyde Park

*Description*
Our client is in the process of migrating their biomed applications from a legacy vendor managed network to internal network managed environment. They need to bring in a consultant to assist their internal team with this ongoing effort. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise in design, implementation and troubleshooting, as well as the physical ability to perform onsite rack-and-stack installations.
*Key Responsibilities:*

* Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols including EIGRP, BGP, and static routing
* Configure and manage layer 2 switching technologies, including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel and 802.1Q trunking
* Implement and manage Palo Alto Network Firewalls, including HA, security policies, NAT and Panorama management
* Perform network upgrades, migrations, and cutovers
* Monitor network performance and availability using SNMP, NetFlow, syslog, and other monitoring tools
* Create and maintain network documentation including diagrams, IP address management, and change records
* Coordinate with facilities and data center teams for cooling, power, and physical access requirements
* Travel to multiple sites within the Health System (Nassau and Suffolk Counties in Long Island, Manhattan, Staten Island, Northern Westchester) for physical rack-and-stack installation of network equipment.

* The Network Engineer provides first level, on-site and remote network support including diagnosing, configuring and documenting assigned network problems in highly available clinical environment for assigned site(s).
* They respond to network issues affecting clinical applications.
* Performs first level diagnostic on-site and remote support for network problems and responds to issues affecting clinical applications
* Configures network devices, including routers and switches in a highly available clinical environment
* Racks and stacks network equipment and performs testing and tracing of network cables
* Documents network changes and implementations
* Works with Wide Area Network (WAN) and internet carriers during implementations and outages

*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $59.00/hr.
