Job Summary
The
Senior Catering Manager
for Restaurant Associates at
Harvard Business School
supports day-to-day catering operations and helps lead the team to deliver exceptional service. This role partners closely with clients, guests, and internal teams, and provides leadership coverage in the absence of the Director of Catering Operations. The position focuses on team oversight, service excellence, communication, and operational consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain strong relationships with clients, guests, and internal departments
Support and oversee catering operations, including leading the team when senior leadership is absent
Ensure service standards consistently exceed expectations
Coach, train, and support managers and hourly associates
Promote a safe, well-organized, and guest-focused work environment
Assist with staffing, scheduling, and operational readiness
Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing associate development
Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and compliance with company standards
Collaborate on marketing and special event initiatives
Participate in operational meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Leadership Scope:
Provides direction to Catering Managers when acting in a leadership coverage role
Supports and guides hourly associates to meet service and performance standards
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of food service experience, including at least 2 years in a management role
Catering experience required
Background in restaurant, hotel, corporate dining, education, healthcare, or similar environments preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills
Working knowledge of food service operations, service standards, and safety practices
Basic financial and operational reporting skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Associate’s degree preferred
