Position Description
We are seeking a skilled Architectural Design Specialist to support both the design development and visual communication efforts for our Revive2Thrive initiative, which includes planning and engineering projects. This role will contribute to project design by collaborating with internal teams and external architecture consultants to develop concepts, review proposals, and provide design input that aligns with precinct goals and community needs. In addition, the specialist will lead the creation of clear, high-quality visual materials—from renderings to simplified diagrams—for public outreach, engagement meetings, and presentations. This position plays a key role in ensuring all materials maintain consistency with established branding and effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences, while strengthening collaboration and supporting informed project decision‑making.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design & Production
Create and produce high‑quality design materials, including engineering and architectural renderings and maps, for infrastructure/planning projects, ensuring adherence to brand standards and visual guidelines established by the Marketing & Brand Director.
Consistency Management
Review and ensure all project‑related materials and communications are consistent with overall brand identity and visual style, maintaining a cohesive look across platforms and formats.
Collaboration
Work closely with engineers, community planners, and vendors to integrate design elements into project deliverables, ensuring visual aspects align with project goals and specifications.
Meeting Participation
Attend project meetings to provide design input and feedback, ensuring that visual materials are appropriately aligned with project objectives and stakeholder requirements.
Material Review
Assess and refine design materials as needed based on feedback from team members and stakeholders to ensure the highest quality and effectiveness in communication.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or urban planning.
Experience
Minimum four years of relevant professional experience in the field.
Proven experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating visual materials that adhere to brand guidelines.
Skills
Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and other design tools, with attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency. Willingness to learn architectural and engineering rendering software and ArcGIS.
Ability to work effectively with engineers, planners, and vendors, integrating design elements into a cohesive visual strategy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and rationale clearly to team members and stakeholders.
General Information
This is a full‑time position. Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary due to business needs; some weekends, evenings, or holidays may be required during special events.
Location: 1001 Preston Street, Houston, TX 77002.
Salary: up to $60,000.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
