Certified Weld Inspector
This position is located on-site in our Portland, CT location.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Certified Welding Inspector ensures that the work produced by welders meets specifications for quality and safety. They perform tests on welds to determine whether weld joints can handle stress and ensures that welds are safe for public use. Some of your daily functions will include:
- Interpretation of the intent and ensuring the requirements of codes, standards and specifications are met.
- Ensuring that a procedure is available, has been approved and is being employed in production.
- Witnessing the preparation of test plates and destructive tests and verifying compliance with appropriate standards and specifications.
- Verifying that adequate and valid welder approvals are available, and that only approved welders are used in production.
- Verification of correctness of welding consumables (electrodes, filler wires, consumable inserts, gases, fluxes etc.
- Surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedures including any pre-weld, dimensional, pre-heat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements.
- Assistance with inspection and test plans.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
If you have at least 2 years' experience as a welder, possess an Associate's degree in welding technology or related equivalent experience and hold your CWI certification ACCP Level 2, we want to talk to you.
