The Position
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Network Engineer (NMO)-Journeyman to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation. The salary range of this position is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background
The Digital Analytics, Infrastructure, and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group is at the cutting edge of Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (AARDT&E). Our state‑of‑the‑art laboratories are equipped to work seamlessly together, enabling comprehensive testing and evaluation of aircraft and weapons systems across the Department of Defense. What sets the DAiTA Group apart is our exceptional ability to mitigate program risks by crafting intricate battlespace environments where cutting‑edge concepts, advanced hardware, and skilled warfighters can dive into the missions of both today and the future. The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department is at the heart of this innovative ecosystem. This team is the driving force behind the research, development, management, design, documentation, fabrication, installation, integration, testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of the Air Combat Environment Test Facility (ACETEF) and other DAiTA AARDT&E capabilities, laboratories, and facilities. With IBST at the helm, we’re not just preparing for the future but shaping it.

A typical day as a Network Engineer (NMO)-Journeyman may include:

Designs, implements, maintains and supports the growing network infrastructure

Ensures the stability and integrity of the Next Generation Electronic Warfare Environment Generator (NEWEG) simulation network infrastructure

Designs and deploys functional networks (Ex. LAN, WLAN, WAN, etc.)

Configures and installs routers, switches, firewalls and other network devices

Performs network maintenance and system upgrades (Ex. service packs, patches, hotfixes and security configurations, etc.)

Monitors performance and ensures system availability and reliability

Troubleshoots network‑related issues (Ex. connectivity problems, performance degradation security incidents, etc.)

Provides technical support to end‑users and other IT staff

Implements and maintains network security measures (Ex. firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, etc.)

Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks

Works closely with other IT professionals (Ex. systems administrators and security analysts) to ensure a cohesive and secure IT environment

Must‑haves

Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate’s Degree with 2 years of additional work experience (6 years total) OR HS Diploma/Equivalent with 4 years of additional work experience (7 years total) OR meets CSWF training requirements OR meets the CSWF certification requirements (CSWF Qualifications: https://www.cool.osd.mil/usn/cswf/matrix.html?moc=cswf_sa_451)

4 years of relevant work experience

Experience with networking protocols (Ex. DDS, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.)

Experience with networking hardware (Ex. routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) from vendors like Cisco, Juniper or Palo Alto Networks

Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (Ex. Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.)

Knowledge of network security principles and best practices

Familiarity with cloud networking (Ex. AWS and Azure) and network automation

The ability to obtain and maintain SAP and/or SCI access as required

Holds final Secret eligibility-The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills

Experience with Python and/or PowerShell

Experience with COMSEC/TACLANE networks

Physical Environment And Working Conditions
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in the field for a majority of their day (lab facilities), on site versus in an office. The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. Overnight travel will be required. The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
