Leidos seeks a Load Balance Network Engineer SME to maintain a large enterprise IT contract for the U.S. Department of Defense. The role requires implementation, operations, and maintenance of load balancer technologies across global enterprise networks, with on‑premises and cloud resources. The engineer will ensure mission‑critical performance and support internal and external customers.
Primary Tasks
Ensure SSL/TLS offloading and PKI authentication features provided by the F5 appliance are operational at all times.
Ensure load balancing configurations and PKI certificates are backed up per customer policies.
Alert load balancing and reverse proxy customers before PKI certificate expiration, and assist with renewals as needed.
Create, manage, and troubleshoot load balanced IP address spaces.
Develop and implement technical solutions in partnership with engineers and architects.
Provide after‑hours support to 24/7/365 IT Operations Center personnel to troubleshoot service outages.
Develop and update technical solutions, operating procedures, and documentation for the IT Operations Center to assist with initial troubleshooting and triage efforts.
Basic Qualifications
Extensive experience administering and managing F5 load balancer appliances in an enterprise environment.
Knowledge of standards, concepts, and tools for monitoring and managing F5 appliances.
Technical knowledge of backing up PKI certificates and appliance configurations.
Experience creating, managing, and troubleshooting load‑balanced IP address spaces.
Ability to work independently to meet customer requirements.
Experience working with team members on requirements and solutions.
Familiarity with IT Service Management products such as ServiceNow.
Required Certifications
DoDM 8140.03 (previously DoD 8570) – IT System Admin Intermediate certification (Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, GSEC, or higher).
F5 Certified Administrator (201) or higher.
Education
Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with 10 years of experience.
Associate’s degree equivalency with 14 years of related experience, or High School Diploma with 16 years of related experience, may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s.
Security Clearance
US citizenship required.
TS/SCI with Polygraph required for the position, or willingness to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
