
Electrical BIM Manager (Houston)

The BIM Manager acts as the strategic and technical lead for 3D modeling, coordination, and prefabrication efforts, acting as the intermediary between design teams, contractors, and field electrical crews. They are responsible for implementing Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) standards, leading BIM teams, and ensuring electrical models are accurate for clash detection and field installation.
Key Responsibilities
BIM Strategy & Execution:
Develop and implement company-wide VDC policies, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), and standards.
Electrical Modeling & Coordination:
Oversee the creation of 3D electrical models (underground, above ceiling, seismic supports) using Revit MEP/AutoCAD MEP.
Clash Detection & Resolution:
Use Navisworks to run clash detection and lead coordination meetings with other trades to resolve design conflicts before construction.
Prefabrication & Takeoffs:
Utilize model data for electrical prefabrication and material takeoffs to improve site efficiency.
Team Leadership & Training:
Lead, train, and mentor BIM coordinators and modelers.
Workflow Optimization:
Evaluate and implement new technologies, including AI, automation scripts (Dynamo/Python), and 5D BIM tools.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
5-10+ years in BIM with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within electrical construction or MEP.
Software Proficiency:
Expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam. Experience with Dynamo, Evolve Electrical, or similar automation tools is often preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of electrical systems, National Electrical Code (NEC), and construction methods.
Leadership/Soft Skills:
Ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and communicate effectively with stakeholders (clients, engineers, project managers).
