Principal Mechanical Engineer - Robotics (Peachtree Corners)
Sigil Partners, Peachtree Corners, GA, United States
We’re seeking Senior and Staff Mechanical Engineers to join a growing, highly hands-on robotics team developing autonomous industrial robotics platforms that are transforming automation efficiency. You’ll work on large-scale mechanical systems that move high payloads, taking ownership of designs from early concept through rapid prototyping and real-world deployment. This is an opportunity to work in a very successful growing company where your contributions directly impact product performance, customer success, and the evolution of next-generation robotic platforms already deployed with major industrial customers.
This is an onsite role in the Peach Tree Corners, GA area requiring regular collaboration with the robotics engineering teams. Qualified hires will receive strong annual Comp, Comprehensive Benefits + Equity.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical systems and structures for autonomous mobile robots, including chassis, frames, and heavy-duty weldments
Own projects from concept through prototype, testing, and early production deployment in real-world environments
Design for high-load applications (~20,000 lbs), accounting for shock, vibration, durability, and repairability
Develop and iterate on electromechanical subsystems including motor modules, wheel assemblies, and hydraulic lift systems
Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration (motors, thermal, controls)
Drive rapid prototyping, including hands-on building, testing, and modification of designs on the shop floor
Work with manufacturing and suppliers on fabrication methods such as welding, laser cutting, and forming
Optimize designs for cost, manufacturability (DFM/DFA), and performance in a fast-iteration environment
Key Qualifications
5–15+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development (flexible for exceptional candidates at both junior and senior levels)
Experience required in robotics, automotive, or heavy industrial systems
Strong experience designing large mechanical structures such as frames, weldments, or heavy industrial components
Proficiency in SolidWorks for CAD design and mechanical development
Experience working with materials and manufacturing processes such as steel fabrication, welding, and machining
Demonstrated ability to take products from concept through prototype to real-world deployment
Hands-on experience building, testing, and iterating mechanical systems (not purely design or simulation-focused)
Ability to balance product optimization thru cost, performance, reliability
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
Exposure to electromechanical systems including motors, drivetrains, or hydraulic systems
Startup or low-volume production experience with fast iteration cycles
Experience designing systems for real-world environmental constraints (shock, vibration, high loads)
Please Note: Qualified candidates must possess US Citizenship or Greencard status to be considered upon submittal.
