Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated Roadway Design Engineer in our Raleigh, NC office. This position will provide the opportunity to work on impactful transportation projects alongside experienced industry professionals, with future potential for growth and advancement.

Responsibilities

Performing roadway design from feasibility studies through final design

Developing plans, specifications, and estimates for a wide range of transportation improvement projects

Producing roadway alignments, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, and 3D models

Preparing quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, and design reports

Developing and reviewing plan sets and associated design documents

Utilizing MicroStation and Geopak / OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for design, modeling and plans production

Participating in design meetings and coordinating with project team members

Serving as roadway task or project lead, as needed

Growing technical and leadership skills with the opportunity to advance into a Project Manager role

Other duties as assigned

A valid driver's license and some travel are required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university

At least 4 years of relevant roadway design experience

Professional Engineer (PE) license required

North Carolina PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date

Preferred Experience

MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD)

Experience with technical aspects of Roadway Design

Experience with NCDOT policies and procedures

MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project)

Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
