High Point, United States | Posted on 12/02/2025
Found in 1987 in High Point, NC, Preferred Data Corporation (PDC) recognized early on the critical role technology would play in business. As manufacturers increasingly adopted computer systems, we focused on providing the specialized IT consulting and support they needed to thrive.
Over three decades, we haven't just kept pace with technology; we've anticipated the evolving needs of the manufacturing sector. This led to the development of our proprietary PDC software suite, designed to streamline core manufacturing processes from quoting and sales to accounting and operations.
Our commitment goes beyond software. We expanded our expertise to encompass robust cybersecurity, cloud integration, proactive managed IT services, and strategic AI implementation—all tailored to the unique demands and challenges of modern manufacturing environments.
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer / Systems Administrator to join our Managed Services team. In this role, you will work across multiple client environments, designing and supporting network and server infrastructures, resolving escalated technical issues, and delivering best‑in‑class IT solutions.
This is not a siloed role—our team members wear multiple hats. You’ll troubleshoot complex problems, manage projects, and directly interact with clients to provide reliable, secure, and scalable IT services. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment with diverse technologies and enjoy building strong client relationships, we’d like to hear from you.
Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and maintain firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs across multiple client sites.
Monitor network performance and proactively resolve latency, bandwidth, or connectivity issues.
Implement and maintain network segmentation, VLANs, and security policies.
Work with ISPs and vendors on circuit installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Systems Administration
Manage Windows servers (physical and virtual), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Support hybrid environments including Office 365, Azure AD, and cloud‑based services.
Handle patch management, backups, and disaster recovery testing for client systems.
Monitor system health using RMM tools, ensuring proactive maintenance and alert response.
MSP‑Specific Duties
Provide Tier 2/3 escalated support for client environments (remote and onsite).
Onboard new clients, performing network and system assessments.
Implement IT projects such as server migrations, firewall deployments, or cloud adoption.
Document client environments, procedures, and troubleshooting steps in a PSA/knowledge base.
Collaborate with account managers to identify technology improvements and upsell opportunities.
Requirements
3–5+ years of experience in a networking and systems administration role, preferably within an MSP.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and VPN technologies.
Hands‑on experience with firewall vendors (WatchGuard, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWall, or similar).
Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and hybrid AD environments.
Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
Familiarity with RMM/PSA tools (ConnectWise, Halo, Kaseya, N‑central, Datto, etc.).
Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills; ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical users.
Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+/Security+, MCSA/MCSE, Azure/AWS certs) are a plus.
This is an Onsite position as travel to customer sites will be required.
Competitive salary and benefits.
Exposure to a wide range of technologies across different industries.
Collaborative team environment with a strong knowledge‑sharing culture.
Opportunity to make a direct impact on client success.
