Overview Intern, Technical Undergrad Year-Round - F&I Design and Engineering, Onsite. We are seeking a Year Round - Technical Undergrad Intern to join our dynamic team!
As an intern supporting our electrical engineering team, you will learn and contribute to the design, analysis, and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will assist with tasks such as:
Helping to model and analyze electrical systems to understand load balancing, system reliability, and maintenance needs.
Supporting the development of procedures for power outages and routine maintenance activities.
Assisting with data collection and analysis related to electrical system performance, including reviewing arc flash calculations and electrical metering data.
Participating in research and testing of new techniques and equipment aimed at improving energy efficiency and system safety.
Learning to conduct lighting and lightning protection system calculations.
Supporting inspection and testing activities to ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes and standards.
Gaining exposure to strategic planning efforts, including site load forecasting and lifecycle asset management.
Collaborating with team members to develop documentation, reports, and scopes of work for electrical projects.
Observing and assisting with safety procedures, including lockout/tagout processes.
Maintaining on-site work availability as required by the nature of the internship.
Responsibilities Modeling and analysis of electrical systems to understand load balancing, reliability, and maintenance needs.

Participation in research and testing to improve energy efficiency and system safety.

Assisting with inspections and testing to verify compliance with electrical codes and standards.
Supporting strategic planning efforts such as site load forecasting and asset management.
Contributing to documentation, reports, and scopes of work for electrical projects.
Following safety procedures, including lockout/tagout.
On-site work eligibility and collaboration with the team.
Qualifications We Require Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.
Qualifications We Desire Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Basic understanding of electrical codes and standards, such as NEC and NFPA 70E, with a willingness to learn and apply them
Some exposure to electrical system design concepts, preferably through coursework or projects, under the guidance of experienced engineers
Interest in learning how to scope and support detailed electrical projects
Familiarity or eagerness to learn troubleshooting techniques for electrical systems
Exposure to power quality concepts and diagnostic tools like Dranetz is a plus, but not required
Awareness of Arc Flash Hazard principles and related calculations; willingness to learn relevant software tools
Interest in computerized facilities management systems such as Maximo, Tririga, or similar platforms
Developing analytical and reasoning skills to help identify and understand electrical risk issues
Basic knowledge or coursework related to low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems is beneficial
Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with internal team members and customers
Strong oral and written communication skills
