Photonect is revolutionizing photonic interconnects through our proprietary adhesion-free, laser-based fiber-to-chip attachment technology.
We are seeking a Computer Vision / Machine Learning Engineer to develop and integrate vision-based intelligence into our laser processing and fiber-alignment systems.
This role will focus on building computer vision pipelines that enable precision alignment, automated inspection, process monitoring, and adaptive control within our photonic packaging equipment.
The ideal candidate enjoys working at the intersection of machine vision, robotics, optics, and hardware systems.
Role Description
Design and implement computer vision algorithms for precision alignment, inspection, and monitoring of fiber-to-chip attachment processes.
Build ML models for automated quality control and anomaly detection.
Integrate vision systems with existing hardware platforms, motion stages, and control software.
Develop software interfaces between cameras, sensors, and machine control systems.
Optimize vision pipelines for real-time performance in manufacturing environments .
Work closely with optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate vision solutions into product platforms.
Train and evaluate machine learning models for process monitoring and predictive analysis.
Improve system robustness under varying illumination, vibration, and environmental conditions.

Qualifications
Required
MS or PhD in Computer Vision, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
Experience with computer vision libraries such as: OpenCV
PyTorch or TensorFlow
Scikit-image
Experience working with industrial cameras and imaging systems
Experience building real-time image processing pipelines
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges
Preferred
3+ years of experience in computer vision or machine vision applications
Experience with machine vision in robotics, manufacturing, or semiconductor equipment
Familiarity with optics or photonics systems
Experience with motion control systems, robotics, or hardware integration
Knowledge of deep learning approaches for object detection, segmentation, and anomaly detection
Experience with GPU acceleration or edge AI systems
Salary Range: $80,000-$150,000 per annum.
