GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Provide basic life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; respond to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintain control and direct patient care at the scene of a pre‑hospital emergency; provide training and instruction to less‑trained personnel; perform other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Recognize a medical emergency and make a reasonable and acceptable differential diagnosis.
Perform physical examinations.
Understand and anticipate potentially life‑threatening presentations of non‑cardiac emergencies and institute appropriate emergency therapy.
Deal with medical and emotional needs of any victim of acute illness or injury, reducing morbidity and mortality.
Respond for quality patient‑care as established by the Company.
File standardized reports of patient information for care and billing purposes.
Maintain effective communication with the physician on duty to obtain orders and transport patients.
Follow standard written protocols when a physician cannot be contacted.
Transport the ill and injured to medical institutions.
Operate emergency vehicles safely under all conditions.
Keep equipment clean and maintain records; complete patient statistics and medical information forms accurately.
Assist in technical rescues and follow company operating policies.

Clean and maintain (minor maintenance) vehicles.
Clean and maintain living quarters.
Maintain records of vehicles, supplies, training, and daily work.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Supervisor assigns shifts and determines scope of work. The incumbent performs duties in accordance with procedures, policies, and medical orders provided. The incumbent must exercise judgment, apply guidelines appropriately, and have performance evaluated based on feedback from patients and medical staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain: EMT/EMT‑B certification; CPR for the Health Care Provider; good knowledge of street systems, addresses, layout, and rescue equipment; advanced life support equipment; high accuracy in medical skills; emotional and medical care of victims; professional objectivity; continuous education and certification maintenance.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Work requires operation of emergency vehicles, movement of equipment, and extraction of individuals from diverse terrain and situations. The incumbent must be able to carry or help carry patients, communicate with them, and maintain company uniforms and equipment. Incidentals include carrying a pager/radio at all times and attending continuing education. The provider reserves the right to waive minimum qualifications if the applicant demonstrates capability to perform duties.
