Responsibilities
Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities
Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews
Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel
Manage and develop multidiscipline teams
Lead, mentor, support, and coordinate the civil design group
Manage group workload and adjust staff assignments as needed to deliver quality products
Provide oversight and mentorship on projects and in support of junior staff
Plan, organize, control and evaluate work through proactive project management system
Review tasks undertaken by others in the civil design group to ensure complete checks of design assumptions, calculations, criteria, applicable codes, and compliance with design standards
Implement, monitor and support company policy
Lead and support expansion of HDR's civil engineering services including client and strategic project development
Assist with pursuits. Prepare and/or review scopes and fees related to civil work
Lead and support hiring initiatives
Manage, lead, assist with, or provide oversight for preparation of contract documents including drawings, specifications, design documentation and criteria, and cost estimates
Perform engineering assignments that may require critical thinking and creativity to address unique elements that have limited or no specific code based guidance
Coordinate civil designs with multi-disciplinary teams
Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Professional registration or license
Demonstrable experience with leading civil design projects, including analysis, reporting, and drawing production.
Field experience related to civil construction.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD/Civil 3D software.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
A minimum of 10 years experience
Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to handle multiple assignments
Good leadership and organizational skills
