Fast-growing, dynamic, public event center is looking for a Food & Beverage Intern to support upcoming events including the National High School Finals Rodeo & the Lancaster County Super Fair.
With 400,000 square feet of multi-use spaces on 160 acres, Sandhills Global Event Center (SGEC) has grown into one of Nebraska’s premier destinations for regional, national, and international events. It now proudly hosts over 500+ event days annually, drawing over 564,000 visitor days each year, and generating up to $72 million in economic impact through out-of-county visitor spending.
Job Summary
We are seeking 5 motivated and detail-oriented interns to join our team for the summer!
#1 - EVENTS MARKETING INTERN
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the planning and execution various types of events
Support the marketing team in promoting events through digital and traditional channels
Help coordinate and manage sponsor relationships and activation plans
Provide logistical and operational support before, during, and after events
Contribute to the coordination of the Super Fair, and large-scale public events
Handle event registrations, communications, and material preparation
Help with on-site event setup, guest services, and breakdown
Maintain and update event-related documentation
Support the creation of promotional content such as banners, signage & flyers
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Advertising & PR, Graphic Design, Hospitality, Agriculture, Animal Science or a related field
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other design software
Skills in photography, photo & video editing is a plus
Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during events
Positive attitude, team-oriented, and eager to learn
Interest in large-scale public events and event operations
Experience with 4-H, agriculture, livestock, trade shows, and/or outdoor events is a plus
#2 - VENDOR MANGEMENT & EVENT PRODUCTION INTERN
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations & Logistics
Assist in the planning and execution of daily event operations across the fairgrounds
Support development of run-of-show documents and daily execution plans
Help coordinate, setup and tear down attractions, vendors, and activity areas , and key event moments
Help manage equipment, supplies, and logistical needs throughout the event
Troubleshoot operational issues and support real-time problem solving
Serve as a point of contact for vendors and the ability to answer questions
Assist with vendor onboarding, communication, and pre-event preparation
Assist with vendor load-in and load-out processes
Ensure vendors are properly placed, set up, and compliant with event guidelines
Help communicate schedules, expectations, and updates to vendors
Troubleshoot needs and gather feedback to improve the overall experience
Team & Cross-Department Support
Work closely with guest experience, marketing, and entertainment teams to align operations
Assist staff and volunteers with direction, logistics, and problem solvingEnsure activities & events are fully prepared, staffed, and operating as planned
Supplies, Signage & Equipment
Track and organize supplies, signage, and event equipment
Ensure materials are placed correctly and available when needed
Maintain organization of storage areas and inventory systems
Assist with signage setup, maintenance, and replacements
Help manage shared equipment such as radios, keys, and golf cart
Post-Event Wrap & Evaluation
Assist with breakdown logistics and inventory tracking
Help document operational successes, challenges, and recommendations
Contribute to post-event reporting and improvements for future events

Calm under pressure and able to problem-solve quickly

Focus on the National High School Finals Rodeo and Super Fair
Developing materials to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for various tasks, including ticket sales, ticket scanning, ushering, and other event needs
Organizing information and files for contestant check-in
Assisting with promoting and selling sponsorship opportunities
Organizing Sponsorships and follow through with Sponsorship Benefits
Procuring donations of merchandise for contestant prizes
Organizing and distribute marketing materials
Inventory and organizing supplies before and after events
Assist in planning and executing various types of events
Help coordinate and manage sponsor relationships and activation plans

Contribute to the coordination of the Super Fair, and large-scale public events
Handle event registrations, communications, and material preparation

Comfortable working on your feet for long periods of time during events
Comfortable lifting 25-30 lbs. occasionally needed

#4 - FOOD & BEVERAGE INTERN
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support: Rotate through various service roles to build a foundation forday-to-day operations.
Service & Guest Interaction: Provide friendly and courteous service to guests. Ensure compliance with company policies and client expectations.
Logistics & Planning: Exposure to inventory management, menu selection, and behind-the-scenes event coordination. Maintain and update event-related documentation.
Vendor Relations: Help coordinate and manage outside food & beverage vendor communication.
Qualifications
Must be ages 19+ due to alcohol serving laws
Must obtain a Liquor Server/Seller Permit & Prep Cook Food Handlers license from local government authorities.
Currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Event Management, Communication, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
Ability to be on your feet for several hours
Interest in large-scale public events and event operations
