With nearly 50 professionals, we work on projects that shape the future of transportation across the Northeast, collaborating with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients to make travel safer and more accessible. Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards
What You’ll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Transportation Business Line , a Project Manager 1
will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and guide projects from concept through construction with responsibilities such as:
Manage roadway design projects for municipal and
MassDOT
clients, including reconstruction, resurfacing, safety improvements, and intersection redesign
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including municipal agencies and
MassDOT , maintaining strong relationships and ensuring exceptional service
Lead the development of construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project reports for roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and traffic features
Supervise internal design teams and coordinate with subconsultants and specialists across disciplines (e.g., traffic, drainage, environment)
Oversee permitting processes and ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including
MassDOT
design standards
Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and ensure timely, cost-effective delivery
Provide technical oversight during construction, including shop drawing reviews, site visits, and contractor coordination
Mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment that promotes technical growth and excellence
Lead proposal preparation and interviews for municipal and state roadway opportunities
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in
Massachusetts
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in roadway design, with at least 3 years managing projects
Strong understanding of
MassDOT
design standards, manuals, and specifications
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer
Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and project schedules
Strong communication skills and ability to lead client meetings and public presentations
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Requirements
Experience with
MassDOT
funding programs such as LOTCIP, STP, and Local Roads
Familiarity with Complete Streets design principles and ADA compliance
Knowledge of local permitting processes and utility coordination in
Massachusetts
Involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE or ITE
Experience with public engagement and community outreach on transportation projects
