Pathologists' Assistant

We are currently looking for a candidate to immediately fill a Full-Time Pathologists' Assistant (PA) position for our Albuquerque, NM market. The team consists of four full-time PA's and one Prosector Trainee/small tissue/biopsy technician. The position consists of rotating through three clinical sites: TriCore Reference Laboratory, Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Women's Hospital, with a volume of approximately 17K-18K cases/year. Frozens and IOCs are performed regularly, but no autopsies. 8:00 am -5:00 pm, M-F, no weekends or on-call.

Duties Include:

Triages surgical specimens in accordance with established procedures.
Preparation, gross description, and dissection of surgical specimens ranging from small biopsies to large and/or high complexity resections in accordance with current procedure.
Maintain the Gross Room in a clean, orderly, well-stocked and well-maintained manner.
Serve as a technical resource for staff.
Consults with the Medical Director(s) regarding technical issues when appropriate.
Maintains CE credits to assure job competency.
Communicates regularly with gross room supervisor in regard to case volume and workflow or any other issues when appropriate.
