Meltwater, New York, NY, United States
What We're Looking For
Meltwater’s Consumer Intelligence AI Team is seeking a Software Engineer in Machine Learning to improve the multimodal semantic layer of MIRA, our AI assistant. The role involves developing new features that power generative AI, building agentic capabilities, orchestrating multi‑step workflows, and generating complex, use‑case driven reports for customers.
Responsibilities
Design and evolve production‑ready systems, evaluation, and deployment at scale.
Drive the development of industrial ML projects from ideation to deployment, focusing on system design, infrastructure, scalability, and reliability, while contributing to modeling, evaluation, and experimentation.
Own reliability, performance, monitoring, and operational quality of ML‑powered systems in production.
Write efficient, well‑tested code and build clean systems to enable MIRA’s advanced generative AI capabilities.
Collaborate closely with product teams to build domain expertise and leverage ML to solve critical business problems.
Preferred Experience
2+ years as a Software Engineer or Machine Learning Engineer building data‑intensive, distributed, or ML‑adjacent systems.
Strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals—system design, data pipelines, APIs, and production debugging—demonstrated by taking systems from prototype to production.
Advanced knowledge in at least one programming language (Python, Rust, Scala, Java).
Passion for AI, particularly generative AI, with a constant drive to stay updated and ahead of the curve.
Team‑player, self‑learner, and autonomous.
MS, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Nice to have: experience building industry‑scale user‑facing ML/AI/agentic applications, MLOps and DevOps principles (CI/CD, Terraform, containerization, Kubernetes), full lifecycle ML model experience, and experience with information retrieval systems (Elasticsearch, Quickwit, Vespa).
What We Offer
Work with a passionate team ready to help and learn from each other.
Apply the latest research to real‑world AI projects with tangible business impact.
Hybrid work style with flexible paid time off for improved work‑life balance.
