Position Summary
The Buffer is responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for painting and finishing by sanding, buffing, and polishing to achieve a smooth, high-quality appearance. This role ensures that all painted surfaces meet company quality standards before moving to the next stage of production or final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Buff, sand, and polish vehicle surfaces to remove imperfections, scratches, and other defects.
Operate buffing and polishing equipment safely and effectively.
Inspect painted surfaces to ensure a consistent, smooth, and high‑gloss finish.
Apply appropriate compounds, waxes, or sealants to achieve desired results.
Maintain buffing tools, pads, and supplies in proper working condition.
Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and proper handling of chemicals.
Report any quality concerns, defects, or rework needs to the Supervisor or Quality team.
Work collaboratively with Paint, Quality, and Production teams to ensure timely completion of vehicles.
Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and 5S standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in automotive, RV, or related buffing/polishing roles strongly preferred.
Knowledge of buffing tools, sanding techniques, and finishing products.
Strong attention to detail with an eye for quality finishes.
Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage time effectively.
Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 lbs.
Repetitive use of hands and arms with buffing/polishing equipment.
Tolerance for working in a production environment with noise, dust, and chemicals.
