Responsibilities
Perform complex work to very close tolerance requiring high accuracy and quality
Set up or check the work of others
Ensure flow of work is maintained in a timely manner
Use appropriate gauging to inspect machined, welded and assembled parts
Use shop math to determine geometric dimensions and tolerance
Use advanced automated measuring equipment (e.g., coordinate measuring machines – CMM; Faro Arm; Mahr Form; profile tester; hardness testers; surface profilometer)
Plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general instructions are available
Perform an extensive and accurate layout of parts needing machined
Build low volume parts on layout tables for weld assembly
Inspect preparation for paint and final paint of all parts and completed machines
Check and inspect parts to blueprint specifications according to recognized inspection practices
Provide support for new and less experienced employees by demonstrating correct and safe job duties, answering questions, sharing knowledge, and assisting with on‑the‑job training as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)
Ability to perform complex work to very close tolerance requiring high accuracy and quality
Ability to set up or check the work of others
Ability to ensure flow of work is maintained in a timely manner
Ability to use appropriate gauging to inspect machined, welded and assembled parts
Ability to use shop math to determine geometric dimensions and tolerance
Ability to use advanced automated measuring equipment (e.g., CMM; Faro Arm; Mahr Form; profile tester; hardness testers; surface profilometer)
Ability to use judgement to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general instructions are available
Ability to perform extensive and accurate layout of parts needing machined
Ability to build low volume parts on the layout tables for weld assembly
Ability to inspect preparation for paint and final paint of all parts and completed machines
Ability to check and inspect parts to blueprint specifications according to recognized inspection practices
Ability to demonstrate a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods
Ability to use and understand simple formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications and diagrams
Knowledge of and application of the theory of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Ability to use and understand complicated drawings, specifications, charts and tables
Ability to perform basic math operations involving whole numbers, decimals and fractions
Ability to use shop math, basic and advanced
Ability to understand and convert Rockwell and Brinell readings
Knowledge of warranty procedures and use inspection knowledge to inspect and process all warranty and service returns
Knowledge of procedures to process and receive all parts on inspection at receiving
Knowledge of GMS and safety systems to ensure compliance
Quality is a shared responsibility; be familiar with the company’s Quality Policy and support continuous improvement.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
At least 1 year of applied trade training (vocational education)
At least 1 year of working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
Working Conditions
Work performed primarily in heavy manufacturing environment requiring frequent walking in and around a non-climate controlled metal manufacturing plant.
Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust and fumes (rarely to the point of being objectionable).
Extended periods of standing, walking and sitting may be required to meet production scheduling activities.
