This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Create high-quality 3D renderings and animations for Communications, Marketing, and Sales teams to support public messaging and customer acquisition across all Blue Origin programs
Develop vehicle CONOPS animations from storyboard to full rendering, including modeling and animatic phases
Establish and maintain a comprehensive 3D asset library for Blue Origin vehicles and ground systems
Create custom 3D storyboards for stakeholder and executive approval that effectively communicate program narratives
Serve as liaison between system design teams and marketing teams to collect accurate technical design information from CAD and internal systems for translation into sales collateral
Set, maintain, and enforce visual quality standards for consistency across all 3D work, ensuring proper representation of the Blue Origin brand
Project manage external vendors for complex CONOPS animations and XR/Unreal/Unity live visualization applications for broadcast use
Convert CAD to usable 3D formats for physical scale model reproduction
Render complex objects as photorealistic images using industry-standard software such as Keyshot, Blender, Unreal, Unity, or similar tools
Create one-off still image renders and composites (3D+Photoshop+AI) to support Communications and Sales teams
Develop quality standards guides to ensure external vendors produce high-quality, consistent materials across programs
Establish efficient rendering pipelines and systems that allow for fast project turnaround while maintaining quality standards
Strategically distribute work among vendors to maximize efficiency with available resources
Acquire multiple bids for project-based work and negotiate for optimal cost, advocating for savings and cost reduction with external spend
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, 3D Animation, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered for exceptional candidates
5-7+ years of professional experience in 3D design and animation, with emphasis on creating high-quality visualizations for marketing and communications
Demonstrated proficiency in multiple industry-standard 3D design and rendering software packages
Experience translating technical CAD data into visually compelling marketing assets
Proven experience managing external vendors and coordinating complex 3D projects
Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality 3D visualization work
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aerospace, aviation, or other technical industries
Proficiency in multiple 3D design platforms including Blender, Autodesk Maya/3ds Max, Cinema 4D, and/or Modo
Knowledge of AI-enhanced design tools and generative design capabilities
Experience with real-time engines like Unreal Engine or Unity for interactive visualizations
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects for animation integration
Experience with Substance Designer/Painter for materials and texturing
Understanding of engineering principles and ability to interpret technical specifications
Experience supporting marketing and communications efforts in a technical field
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain consistent visual standards across multiple projects
Compensation
Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $112,059.00 - $156,882.60
