Technical Artist, Animation Systems – UE5 (Sports / Action / Simulation Games)
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
This role is posted on behalf of the following client: A AAA sports game development studio building the next generation of professional football (soccer) experiences in Unreal Engine 5. The team is focused on high-fidelity, high-performance gameplay systems and presentation quality suited for modern console and PC platforms.
Role Overview
The Technical Artist, Animation Systems will help design, implement, and tune in-game animation systems for an upcoming UE5 sports title. This role partners closely with animation, engineering, and technical teams to refine pipelines, build tools and testbeds, and ensure animation systems meet both performance and visual quality goals.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with animation, programming, and technical teams to create and tune in-game animation systems in Unreal Engine 5 (e.g., state machines, motion matching approaches).
- Refine animation pipelines for efficiency, strong visual results, and ease of use; provide tooling and scripting support to the animation team as needed.
- Build feature testbeds, support rapid prototyping, and provide feedback on in-game features and aesthetics to improve overall quality.
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience building animation state machines in Unreal Engine (or equivalent), with a strong grasp of modern real-time animation systems (motion matching, state machines, etc.).
- Track record of shipping high-performance console and/or PC titles; comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of animation and rigging pipelines and tools (e.g., Maya, MotionBuilder), with excellent communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills.
