Job Description
The Kingdom East School District is hiring a full‑time Social and Emotional Learning Content Specialist assigned to the Lunenburg school. The SEL content specialist is dedicated to helping to define and create systems that foster school climate and culture. The individual will facilitate and assist within the MTSS framework to identify and analyze data and make adjustments so that we can improve the social emotional, health and physical well‑being of all students kindergarten through fifth grade. The SEL content specialist will work with the Lunenburg school team to provide small group and classroom instruction focusing on physical indoor and outdoor activity, health and social/emotional/behavioral standards. The candidate will work closely with the principal, school‑to‑home coordinator, school clinician and special education teacher on a regular basis. A content specialist is a licensed teacher (or eligible) who provides direct instruction to students and, in consultation with teachers, special education case managers, and administration, serving learners needing additional interventions and support as defined by Vermont ESS and Federal IDEA statute. The content specialist is well‑versed in providing layered support and instruction under the guidelines of the EST and/or 504 or IEP plans within the VTMTSS framework. The content specialist is considered an expert in their content whether it be academic, health, physical education, behavior, inclusion, cognitive, or social emotional learning and development. We seek positive team players who are creative, passionate teachers with a sense of humor and genuine love for working with elementary students.
Kingdom East School District is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven PreK‑8th grade schools with 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have a “choice” and may attend one of the traditional independent schools—Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy—or another high school of their choosing.
We are about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston, and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Littleton, NH, and St. Johnsbury, VT, have numerous fine and performing arts venues. Our communities attract wholesome families, faculty, and staff. Our schools maintain impassioned faculty, personalized beliefs about success, and a caring, safe school culture.
Only completed online applications at schoolspring.com will be accepted. An online application must include a profile, letter, resume, transcripts, references, tests, certifications, and questions if asked. Hard copies of Vermont Certification with appropriate endorsements, three written letters of reference, and transcripts will be required for verification at the interview level.
