Job Description
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Art, or a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in Art;
Excellent communication skills both oral and written;
Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way;
Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds and the willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
Computer literacy and experience using computers in the classroom, with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to teaching;
Experience with online instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Art;
Two to five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Preparing, instructing, and grading all coursework;
Assigning final grades;
Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructing assigned classes; grading quizzes, tests, and written assignments;
Assigning final grades and delivering grade reports;
Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment;
Participating in department, division, and faculty meetings;
Completing other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach, stoop, and occasionally carry items over 25 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating office equipment. IRSC employees are expected to follow safety standards.
