We are looking for a SolidWorks Design Engineer to support the design and development of equipment across Smiley Lifting Solutions’ operations.
You will produce accurate 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings, working closely with in-house CNC machining, fabrication, service, and compliance teams to deliver build-ready crane and lifting equipment.
This role is suited to a practical design engineer who wants their work manufactured, assembled, and used in real-world operations.
Key Responsibilities
Create 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
Produce detailed 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings
Design crane structures, components, lifting platforms, and counterweight trailers
Support SPYDERCRANE adaptation and North American compliance work
Prepare BOMs and supporting documentation
Revise designs based on engineering, compliance, and workshop feedback
Collaborate closely with CNC machining, fabrication, servicing, and compliance teams
Minimum Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
Experience with mechanical assemblies and/or fabricated steel structures
Understanding of CNC machining and fabrication processes
Solid work history and strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams
