Job Details
Temporary assignment; benefits‑eligible.
Selected candidate must have a current/valid Texas driver’s license and a clean driving record.
This role requires a class "C" operator's driver’s license.
Purpose
Provide semi‑skilled and installer helper‑level installation of telecommunications cabling for the University of Texas at Austin.
Preferred qualifications include experience installing inside‑plant communications cabling and wireless access points, as well as commercial construction work.
Responsibilities
Install telecom cabling in new and existing structures, including enclosed and cramped spaces or at heights.
Operate mechanical and electrical equipment used in the installation of cabling in close proximity to high‑voltage and high‑pressure steam pipes.
Complete reports of time, materials, and other necessary items required for assigned tasks.
Set up and dismantle equipment; operate a UT vehicle.
Required Qualifications
High School graduate or GED.
Experience installing inside‑plant communications cabling and wireless access points.
Experience in commercial construction work.
Work constructively as a team member, exercise good safety habits, and maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience installing inside‑plant communications cabling and wireless access points.
Experience in commercial construction work.
Working Conditions
Attire: Jeans and work shirt, polo or button‑up with long pants (no shorts), closed‑toe shoes or work boots; steel‑toe preferred.
Work Shift
Hours per week: 40
Work hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Three work references with contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor.
