Job Summary
The VDC Specialist is responsible for creating and documenting models, shop drawings, as-built drawings, and other associated design and construction documents.
Salary: USD $25.00/Hr (Min) – USD $35.00/Hr (Max)
Responsibilities
Build design and construction models, create working views, sheet views, and 3D views for export using Revit or other software.
Run internal clash detection tests to assist the project team with coordination.
Generate design and construction documentation for structured cabling projects during design, shop drawings, and as-builts phases.
Provide VDC/BIM quality assurance by reviewing project BIM standards, execution plans and design drawings for completeness and accuracy.
Participate in project VDC coordination meetings, performing coordination tasks in Navisworks, BIM360 Glue or other coordination software.
Manage 3D models for design and/or construction coordination and submission for approval by the general contractor.
Set up electronic file and information exchanges utilizing platforms such as Bluebeam Revu.
Lead coordination and communication between VDC, design, and operations teams to resolve issues in the model, drawings, and field.
Assist VDC and Operations teams in reviewing and resolving issues during construction and updating the model and drawings accordingly.
Attend meetings and submit updates to management regarding project status and needs.
Correspond regularly with project managers, general contractors and other subcontractors.
Develop length and quantity take-offs using various take‑off software.
Mentor VDC Operator I & II staff and assist with other assigned responsibilities.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
High School diploma or GED required; Associate or bachelor’s degree in drafting, construction management, computing, engineering technologies, or a similar field preferred.
Prior experience with electrical, controls systems or low‑voltage design is a plus.
Must meet company minimum driving standards.
Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, industry standards, and other project‑related activities.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Time‑management skills, including task prioritization and daily plan execution.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Revit or other VDC software.
Working knowledge of Navisworks for visualization, coordination, and clash detection.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Bluebeam Revu or other PDF management software.
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit, including: create and manage all model content; quality assurance audits; quantity take‑offs and exports.
Intermediate knowledge of Navisworks: create, run, and consolidate clash reports; manage parameters, selection sets, and search sets.
