Renewable Engineering Interns


Kier Wright Renewable Engineering (KWRE) is seeking curious, motivated, and solution-driven Summer 2025 Interns to join our Livermore, CA office. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting large-scale solar and energy storage projects across the U.S. and have the opportunity to make a real impact in renewable infrastructure.

At Kier Wright Renewable Engineering, a division of Kier + Wright, we partner with solar developers, EPCs, and tracker manufacturers to design and deliver efficient, code-compliant utility-scale solar and storage systems. Our team combines deep technical expertise with a practical understanding of how to get projects built-on time and on budget. Interns May Work On



  • AutoCAD Civil 3D Drafting

  • Assisting with hydraulic & stormwater drafting

  • Grading, drainage, and utility plans

  • Attending client meetings

  • Civil site design including grading and stormwater

  • Assisting with plan reviews and engineering calculations

  • Supporting the preparation of permit submittals

  • Cross-functional coordination with internal teams and clients

  • Exposure to real projects in solar and energy storage


Required Qualifications



  • Currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering-or a related field

  • Preferred: Junior or Senior standing in a bachelor's program or enrolled in a master's program

  • Passionate about renewable energy and sustainability

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient or familiar with AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience is a plus

  • Team-oriented with a proactive attitude

  • Previous internship or hands-on project experience is a bonus

  • E.I.T. certification is a plus


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions



  • Prolonged periods working at a computer

  • Occasional site visits involving standing, walking, or driving

  • Collaborative in-office work environment
