The Audio Visual Technician III is a senior field role responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and commissioning complex audiovisual systems in commercial environments. This position serves as a technical leader on job sites, providing mentorship to junior technicians while ensuring installations meet company standards, project documentation, and customer expectations. In this role, you will demonstrate advanced technical competency, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
Design, plan and install AV systems
Provide AV installation project oversight and updates
Inventory AV devices and materials intended for installation
Test and verify functionality of newly installed AV systems
Perform AV system maintenance and repair as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years experience installing commercial AV systems
Demonstrated experience leading field installations
Strong understanding of AV signal flow and system architecture
Experience reading and interpreting AV drawings
AVIXA CTS certification (CTS-I preferred)
Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Cisco, etc.)
OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
Experience commissioning DSP and control systems
Experience working in healthcare, higher education, or corporate environments
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
AV rack assembly and wiring
DSP configuration and troubleshooting
Control system installation
Video conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex)
Structured cabling installation
Fiber termination and testing
Networked AV technologies
System commissioning and verification
Physical Demands
Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25‑50 pounds, and occasional lifting over 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Work Environment
Commercial construction and retrofit environments. Indoor job sites with occasional outdoor exposure. Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and ladder work. Fast-paced environments with project deadlines.
Work may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware.
