AG&E is an international structural engineering firm headquartered in Dallas, TX. Founded in 2004, AG&E has nine offices across the U.S., as well as international offices in India and Brazil. We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our structural engineering team in multiple locations (Dallas, Houston, Austin, TX and Brentwood, TN).
Position Summary
The Design Engineer will contribute to complex, high-profile projects across commercial, institutional, mission critical, educational, aviation, and healthcare sectors. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with senior engineers, interface directly with clients, and work on challenging and rewarding structural designs.
Key Responsibilities
Technical
Perform structural analysis and design using hand calculations and computer modeling
Prepare project materials, specifications, and structural configurations
Coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated designs
Support construction contract administration by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site observations
Ensure designs align with applicable building codes and material standards
Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and review the work of engineers and technical staff
Support development of team members through guidance and feedback
Client Interaction
Participate in client meetings and presentations
Collaborate with clients and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
Business Development
Participate in industry networking events
Contribute to internal technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering (structural emphasis) from an ABET-accredited program; Master’s preferred
Minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience (may be reduced with a Master’s degree or SE license)
Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) license (structural designation)
Proficiency in Bentley RAM, Tekla Structural Designer, and Autodesk Revit preferred
Strong understanding of building codes and structural materials (concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel, masonry, and wood)
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
