Camera Operator Job at Speakerbox Media in Granite Heights

Speakerbox Media, Granite Heights, WI, United States

Location: Houston, Texas

Reports To: Lead Video Producer

We help executives, venture funders, and organizations Become the Authority through premium podcast and video production. Our team blends strategy, creativity, and execution to deliver standout shows that build credibility and influence.

The Camera Operator / DIT / Studio Associate supports the production of high-quality video content from podcasts and interviews to branded media. This is a hands‑on, in‑person role focused primarily on capturing clean, professional footage and ensuring all media is properly handled from shoot to edit.

This role leans more into production than editing. The priority is making sure everything is shot well, recorded properly, and organized cleanly so the post‑production team can move fast without issues.

You’ll be involved directly in shoots, supporting camera operation, framing, lighting, and basic audio. You’ll help ensure everything is set up correctly before recording, runs smoothly during sessions, and is properly wrapped and backed up after.

You’ll also take ownership of media handling. That means offloading footage, organizing files, maintaining clean folder structures, and ensuring everything is backed up and ready for editing. Attention to detail here is key.

You don’t need to lead creative direction, but you do need strong technical awareness and a good eye for quality. Clean visuals, proper exposure, sharp focus, and consistent setups matter a lot in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing

Support video shoots (podcasts, interviews, in‑studio recordings)

Assist with camera setup, framing, lighting, and basic audio

Monitor recording quality (focus, exposure, audio levels) during shoots

Troubleshoot minor technical issues on set

Offload, organize, and back up footage after sessions

Maintain clean and consistent file structures across project drives

Prep footage for editors (syncing, labeling, organizing)

Help keep the studio and equipment organized and ready for use

Assist with light editing or formatting when needed (not the main focus)

Support production workflows and timelines with the team

What Matters Most In This Role

Strong camera operation skills and understanding of video quality

Ability to consistently capture clean, professional footage

Solid media management and file organization habits

Reliability during shoots and attention to detail

Comfort working in a fast‑moving production environment

Requirements

Experience with cameras, lighting, and basic audio setup

Understanding of how to capture high‑quality video (focus, exposure, framing)

Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve (required); Adobe is a plus

Comfortable with tools like Google Drive, Asana/Teamwork, and LucidLink

Strong organization and time management

Based in or able to work in‑person in Houston, Texas

This role is a strong entry point into full production workflows. You’ll get hands‑on experience across shoots, media management, and post‑production support, with room to grow into more advanced production or creative roles over time.
