Position Overview
The Repair Technician will troubleshoot and repair customer‑owned Sony equipment focusing on the evaluation and repair of professional camcorders, ENG (Electronic News Gathering), and cinema, film, and production type equipment. The role also requires completion of related administrative tasks, which will include some data entry of evaluation findings and part numbers along with completion of work orders for assigned jobs.

As our Sony Repair Technician, you will interact with diverse, passionate photographers and production professionals who entrust their beloved gear to you. Your empathy, expert know‑how, and communication skills will make their day.

Schedule & Location

40 hours per week

Mon - Fri 6:00am - 2:30pm

Sony Electronics Service Center located at 1730 N First St San Jose CA 95112

Duties

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic & camera products correctly

Meet customer demands by providing efficient and responsive service support to client products

Maintain performance levels that are aligned with service metrics

Use dedicated testing and service equipment

Related administrative tasks such as data entry of evaluation findings

Report and record keep product failures, trends, and serviceability

Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the hands‑on repair and service of electronic equipment, preferably professional photo/video servicing

Associate degree in electronics or equivalent with emphasis on electronic equipment

Proficient knowledge of digital and analog circuitry

Knowledge and use of sophisticated test equipment in the repair process

Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics

Experience in precision soldering

Demonstrated basic skills with precision hand tools and test equipment

Knowledgeable of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures or willing to learn

Good working knowledge of basic PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and standard software applications

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Physical Requirements

Able to use a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment

Must be mobile and able to sit and/or stand for four (4) hours

Able to lift 35 lbs. from floor to chest level

Basic understanding and manual dexterity to use various hand‑held and power tools

Smartphone with internet access/data plan
