
Systems Design Engineer

Overview The NI ADG (Aerospace, Defense, Government Business Unit) Customer Centric Solutions Team is seeking an experienced Systems Design Engineer to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI products. The primary responsibilities are to work with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers to define, document, design, deploy, and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system level design.
This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including gathering requirements, generating specification documents, and interfacing with alliance partners, contract manufacturers, and internal personnel to design, deploy, and sustain custom solutions worldwide. This is a high visibility role within NI requiring daily interaction with NI customers, NI Alliance Partners, NI Sales Teams, NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management.
In this role, your responsibilities will be Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing, and sustaining custom solutions
Generating requirements documents, statements of work, and Bills of Materials
Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
Specifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutions
Directing support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions, and driving field-found issues to resolution
Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
Who you are You serve as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain profitable and long-lasting relationships with key accounts. You promote a sense of urgency and establish and enforce individual accountability in the team. You model collaboration across the organization.
For this role, you will need B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering Technology or any STEM related degree
7+ years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role
Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architectures
Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#)
Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles: Sources of measurement error
Appropriate selection of instrumentation and equipment
Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams
Integration of hardware and software
Bill of Materials creation and review
Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R)
Hands-on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools
Knowledge in Component Supplier Selection
Knowledge in Compliance Certifications (CE, UL, TUV, etc.)
US Person (US Citizen or Green Card) ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
