Rail Transport Planner

Rail Transport Planners develop operational and strategic plans for railway networks, designing timetables, capacity management frameworks, station service plans, and rolling stock utilization programs that optimize rail system performance for both passenger and freight services. Germany's Deutsche Bahn network modernization program, France's SNCF expansion plans, and Gulf countries' rapid rail investment programs (Riyadh Metro, Etihad Rail, Doha Metro) represent major planning talent demand contexts. Rail planning credentials and rail systems knowledge are essential qualifications.

Purpose
To design and optimize complex rail transport schedules and network flows using advanced predictive AI, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal carbon impact.

Impact
This role directly influences the company's 2030 Net-Zero goals and ensures all automated planning systems comply with the August 2026 EU AI Act enforcement deadline.

Team Structure
Part of the Global Network Planning Hub, collaborating with Data Scientists, Regulatory Officers, and Field Operations Managers.

Reports To
Reports to the Director of Integrated Logistics & Sustainability.

Working Conditions
Travel Required: 15%

Standard business hours with occasional on-call availability during major network upgrades or disruptions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods

Occasional site visits to rail terminals and intermodal hubs requiring standard PPE
