Summary
The Business Development Manager is a senior-level growth leader responsible for expanding market presence, building strategic relationships, and driving long-term revenue generation within the construction and development ecosystem. This role provides strategic oversight of business development activities, represents the organization externally with credibility and influence, and plays a critical role in shaping pipeline strength and competitive positioning in a dynamic and highly competitive market.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Establish and strengthen internal partnerships to develop a deep understanding of organizational capabilities, services, and differentiators.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and other key industry stakeholders.
Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities aligned with targeted markets and strategic growth objectives.
Lead strategic pursuits including proposals, presentations, and interview processes for prospective projects.
Develop and execute market and account strategies to drive backlog growth and sustainable revenue.
Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to enhance visibility and brand presence.
Maintain disciplined pipeline management, including tracking, reporting, and forecasting of business development metrics.
Balance long-term strategic growth initiatives with near-term pipeline and revenue demands.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of five years of experience in construction business development, sales, or a closely related role.
Established professional network within the construction, development, or AEC community.
Strong knowledge of planning, design, and construction processes and industry dynamics.
Demonstrated success in identifying decision-makers, building trusted relationships, and closing work.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to work independently with sound judgment, discipline, and initiative.
Client-focused mindset with a forward-thinking, analytical, and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Comfort and effectiveness in persuasive dialogue and high-stakes, candid conversations.
