The Press Operator helps to maintain the efficiency of the press by effectively organizing and stacking freshly printed items as they come off the press. Responsible for bundling and stacking prints onto pallets per customer specifications.

The Press Operator helps to maintain the efficiency of the press by effectively organizing and stacking freshly printed items as they come off the press. Responsible for bundling and stacking prints onto pallets per customer specifications.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uniformly jog and hand-palletize banded or loose signatures off the folder equipment. Select, move, and adjust stacker equipment for utilization with the press to meet current job requirements.
- Prepare complete pallet or container box for material handler movement, and/or stage and move pallets or container boxes with hand truck or if trained, with electric pallet jack, to maintain press production.
- Check printed product for obvious quality problems such as fold, bunch, count, or anything else that would detract from product quality. Notify 2nd Press Operator or Press Operator of any quality defects.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available in the immediate work area to perform jogging work, such as pallets, banding/strapping materials, container boxes, labels, etc. Notify press crew or material handlers of shortages so that more supplies can be obtained timely for press operations to be maintained.
- Assist in hanging plates, washing blankets, & Cleaning ink fountains for new colors and mark kits.
- Follow safety procedures including wearing proper PPE as assigned. Maintain a clean, safe working environment by keeping skids neatly stacked, floors swept, and materials organized. Notify manager, supervisor, or Human Resources of safety hazards immediately.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as assigned.
- High level of attention to detail required. Must be able to visually observe colors and detect variations
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Preferred Skills
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial positions and knowledge of printing terminology is preferred but not required. Use of labeling software such as Bartender, Quick Label, or similar printing software.
