
Lower School Library Media Specialist

Overview
Princeton Day School is seeking an energetic Lower School Library Media Specialist to lead a dynamic, inclusive library program that supports literacy, inquiry, and digital learning. The Specialist will work closely with Lower School faculty and families to guide students to develop a joy of reading, become curious learners, and use information and educational technology responsibly.
Responsibilities
Oversee library space and online library operations, including circulation, cataloging, shelving, inventory, and scheduling.
Foster a love of books through storytelling, book talks, special programs and displays.
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to design and implement engaging lessons and inquiry-based learning experiences that develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and information literacy skills.
Oversee supervision, scheduling, and training of Lower School Library staff and volunteers.
Support students and faculty with research and resource identification.
Curate a diverse and inclusive collection of print and digital resources to meet the reading and learning needs of the Lower School.
Lead academic technology initiatives, manage digital resources and instructional technologies, and support faculty and students in their use.
Coordinate and implement outreach programming to promote library and technology initiatives, which may include digital communications, family events, information sessions, and local community partnerships.
Qualifications
ALA-accredited Master of Library Science or equivalent degree
Experience with elementary-age children in library or educational settings
Strong knowledge of children's literature and a passion for reading
Ability to plan, teach, and assess information and digital literacy instruction
Expertise in educational technology and integrating digital tools into teaching
Experience selecting, managing, and promoting a diverse and inclusive library collection
Commitment to professional growth and staying current with library and technology trends
Compensation
Compensation Range: $66,500 - $107,000 a year (this role is on PDS' faculty salary scale and is eligible for benefits).
