NOTE: This role is based in New York City and encourages a minimum of two days per week in the SoHo office. Some roles or teams may require additional in‑office attendance if the essential functions of the role require it.
Opportunity
Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company, is seeking an Internal Communications Coordinator to join the Corporate Communications and Events team. Based at Scholastic’s corporate headquarters in SoHo, New York, the coordinator will help grow engagement with the Scholastic brand internally by supporting employee marketing campaigns, writing and publishing content for the Scholastic Intranet, brainstorming creative ways to communicate and connect with internal audiences, and building awareness about company initiatives, new releases, and events. This role reports to the Senior Director of Internal Communications.
Responsibilities
Plan, edit, write, and post content for a variety of global internal communications channels, such as the employee intranet, Teams, email announcements, and the weekly email newsletter.
Conduct author interviews, employee profiles, and round‑up articles and emails for the intranet.
Work with cross‑functional departments, including but not limited to Scholastic Entertainment, Information Security, and corporate donations to develop communications strategies and build awareness for programs and initiatives.
Have primary responsibility for planning and supporting “employee celebration” days around key publications, Clifford’s birthday, movie releases and more.
Lead weekly editorial meetings by suggesting newsletter content, story order, and reviewing and updating internal editorial calendars for stories, memos and newsletter content each week.
Have primary responsibility for setting up and sending emails and the weekly newsletter via our email distribution platform.
Assist the team in updating and keeping intranet content relevant and up to date.
Support various communications distribution channels, including updating weekly and monthly mailing lists and performing other administrative or organizational tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Stellar writing and proofreading skills with a knack for quickly producing content.
Passion for promoting employee engagement and participation in corporate initiatives.
Attentive to detail, proactive, and resourceful.
Ability to work quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
Knowledge of Canva or Adobe Suite tools a plus.
Love of books and reading a must!
Experience: Minimum 2‑3 years of relevant work experience.
Education: B.A./B.S. degree (communications, employee communications, marketing, or related field is a plus).
