Jet Parts Engineering, Seattle, WA, United States
Job Description
The individual brings deep firsthand manufacturing knowledge to the design, reverse engineering, and certification of FAA-compliant PMA aircraft parts. Beyond their own design work, this individual serves as the engineering team’s manufacturing SME, bringing firsthand knowledge of how parts are made, from stock material selection through final processing. Work is project‑based and primarily autonomous, with collaboration from senior engineers, certification, quality, procurement, and manufacturing throughout.
Key Responsibilities
Support design engineers with new part development, providing manufacturing input on producibility, materials, and tolerances
Provide technical guidance to procurement and external manufacturers on process capabilities, tooling, and inspection methods to ensure part conformance
Research and investigate part function, failure modes and effects, and operating conditions to establish design requirements
Develop 3D solid models and drawings using SolidWorks
Evaluate dimensional and material data to drive design decisions based on measured results, manufacturing capabilities, and functional requirements
Perform tolerance analysis and document engineering justification for design features
Prepare and release production drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards
Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and certification to support the project lifecycle
Design test fixtures and develop inspection methods as required
Qualifications
5–15 years of manufacturing experience
Extensive firsthand knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
Machine shop, fabrication, or other direct hands‑on manufacturing experience
CAD/3D modeling design experience; proficiency with SolidWorks preferred
Knowledge of mechanical drafting standards and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Detail oriented, organized, and able to self-manage across multiple concurrent projects
Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team
Experience with reverse engineering preferred
